On the 26th August we spent the day at Rossington Main F.C in Doncaster taking photo's of the Lee Johnson Football Fund Charity Match. The match was to raise funds for local charity Olly's Fund and Bluebell Wood Children's hospice. Despite the weather the match carried on, and everyone who took part had an amazing time, the final score on the day was 9-8 to the 'Sheffield Wednesday' team.
Olly was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy just after his second birthday, in 2014. DMD is a cruel muscle-wasting, life-shortening terminal condition for which at present there is no cure, with 100 boys a year born in the UK with DMD.
Olly's Fund was setup to raise funds for Olly, and to also raise funds for DMD Research. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign funds world-class pioneering research into potential treatments and cures for people with muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions, from basic science and translational research to clinical pilot studies.
Bluebell Wood is a home from home for families facing the toughest of times, with a comfy lounge and beautiful gardens. Bluebell wood are always cooking up mouth-watering meals and tasty treats in the kitchen for families. There?s also plenty of fun activities for children to try, including soft play, arts and crafts, music therapy and much more.
While they?re staying with Bluebell wood, children have one of our eight bedrooms. If their family is staying too, then parents have their own room.
The full album of photo's from the day can be found over on our facebook page We would like to say a massive well done to everyone who took part in the match this year, and well done to all who donated, bought raffle tickets and took part in the bidding the evening of the charity match. We'll see you at the event next year!
